In an Article entitled 2018 Fall Sports Superlatives (Nov. 29), the Lake Sun Newsleader's Sports Editor Michael Losch, shared the following about Cross Country Coach Allen:
HONORABLE MENTION COACHES
Kathryn Allen, Macks Creek Cross Country
After nearly two decades of dormancy, the Macks Creek cross country program was brought back this fall for the first time in 17 years and the decision to do so seemed to be a good one as nine Pirates signed up to run distance races of 3.1 miles at each meet. It also happened to be the first year of coaching the sport for Macks Creek’s Kathryn Allen and she was able to help freshman Molly Phillips qualify for state and compete in the Class 1 championship in Jefferson City. Producing a state qualifier in the first season is a start any coach would be glad to have and time will soon tell if the state meet becomes a hobby for the revitalized program.
