On Tuesday May 10th, our 5th and 6th grade students embarked on a journey through the historic Missouri State Penitentiary. While on their field trip, students learned the Missouri State Penitentiary once housed six major shoe factories and the largest saddletree factory in the world (a saddletree is the base upon which the rest of a horse saddle is constructed) using inmate labor. Students also learned about several major historical figures and had the opportunity to experience historical architecture.
