The Pirates XC team traveled to the Dixon Invitational meet at Ozark Hills Country Club this evening. The Pirates had hoped to bring a full team to the meet, but weren't able to do so. Nonetheless, they made the most of the great weather on a challenging but beautiful course. On the Middle School side, Paxten Breshears, in his 2nd meet of the season continues to make steady progress finishing 36th. In HS Varsity, Caleb Phillips took 3rd (19:13), Kyler Gabriel 6th (19:57), Grant English 14th (21:44) and Aydin Long, 23rd (26:19). Today was Aydin's second meet of the season and he ran a full 25 seconds faster today than he did on a much flatter course at his first meet in Buffalo last week! Great job Aydin - keep up the hard work! Senior leader and veteran runner Grant English continues to encourage the team. Like the girls team, the boys are excited about the prospect of bringing a full team of runners to the Conference Meet at Humansville this Saturday. The Humansville meet is unique because it is actually 2 meets in one. The Pirates will compete against multiple schools in the Humansville Invitational, but each the nine PCL Conference Schools' results will also be scored separately. As a result, each racer could potentially medal twice in the same race. The Pirates will spend the rest of this week preparing for Conferece as they look ahead to the culmination of the season with Districts and the goal of sending as many Pirates to State as possible! Keep working hard team! Here are some photos of today's action at Ozark Hills:
