The Jr. High Lady Pirates pushed their record to 7-1 on the season with wins over Halfway and Richland this week. The Halfway Cardinals were simply no match for Macks Creek as the Lady Pirates quickly showed their dominance with a 22-0 first quarter lead and cruised to a 57-4 finish. India Willis led 4 ladies in double digits with a game high 25 points, while adding 11 steals, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Brooklyn Duggan, Ashlee Klingsick and Emma Seaholm each added 10 points.
At Richland, the Lady Pirates struggled to score, but some suffocating defense held the Bears scoreless in the first half on their way to a 25-14 victory. India Willis again led the team in scoring with 17 points to go along with her 10 steals. Emma Seaholm chipped in 5 points and 9 rebounds.
On the Boys side, another late run allowed the Pirates to take a temporary lead down the stretch, but Halfway hit some timely shots and pulled out a 36-39 win over Macks Creek. Down by 9 with 5 minutes to go in the game the Pirates, led by Hunter Cullens 28 points and 14 rebounds, took the lead with 2:15 left in the game only to see it slip away in the last minute. Kyler Gabriel despite only having 2 points, led the team with 7 assists and 5 steals.
The Boys pushed their record to 3-5 with a win at Richland on Tuesday night. Foul trouble plagued the Pirates for most of the game and allowed the Bears to close the gap at half time after an 8-0 start for the Pirates. Leading by 8 with 2 minutes left, Richland made the game close and hit a three at the buzzer to come up one point short in a 27-26 Macks Creek Victory. Caiden Ramirez led the team with 7, while Hunter Cullen and Kyler Gabriel added 5 each and Hunter Lane and Tagen Seaton chipped in 4 each.
The Boys B Team improved to 6-2 on the season with a 9-6 win at Halfway led by Nick Hicks 4 points and a 9-5 win in two quarters led by Braxton Callow's 6 points.
Both teams will be back in action this Friday at home vs. Dadeville.
