Sean Green was an RBI machine on Thursday, driving in four on three hits to lead Macks Creek Pirates past Walnut Grove 14-11 on Thursday. Green drove in runs on a double in the third and a single in the fifth.
Bats blistered as Macks Creek Varsity Pirates collected nine hits and Walnut Grove tallied 16 in the high-scoring game.
In the first inning, Walnut Grove got their offense started scoring two. They followed it up with another run in the third. The Pirates were held scoreless in the first two innings.
Macks Creek Varsity Pirates pulled away for good with six runs in the third inning. In the third Kyler Gabriel drew a walk, scoring one run, Green doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring three runs, and Dakota Willis singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
Macks Creek Varsity Pirates notched eight runs in the fifth inning. The big inning was thanks to walks by Wyatt Brooks, Owyn Charlton, and Gabriel, singles by Green and Paxten Breshears, by Julian Norman, and a fielder's choice by Willis.
Walnut Grove scored four runs in the seventh inning. Walnut Grove's big inning was driven by a walk, a single, and a groundout.
Willis led the Macks Creek Varsity Pirates to victory on the mound. The righthander lasted four and a third innings, allowing nine hits and five runs while striking out ten. Green and Gabriel entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Green recorded the last six outs to earn the save for Macks Creek Varsity Pirates. The last out would come with the bases loaded and a hard line drive to center field. Josh Botta would make a great catch to end the game propelling the Pirates to their second win of the season.
